In Kazakhstan, the fish protection action «Bekire-2020»
April 1, 2020, the Ministry of ecology, Geology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Atyrau, Mangistau and West Kazakhstan regions have launched a large-scale fish protection action «Bekire-2020».
Every year in the period of spawning of valuable fish species staff and conservation law enforcement, to ensure the migration of fish, including sturgeons to the spawning grounds unite efforts to combat illegal fishing and trafficking of fish.
To improve the effectiveness of fish protection measures, a Joint order was signed by the Ministers of ecology, Geology and natural resources, internal Affairs and the Chairman of the national security Committee «on holding the fish protection action «Bekire».
Within the framework of the above-mentioned order, the composition of the coordination staff for interaction between law enforcement and environmental authorities during the fish protection campaign was approved, as well as a Plan for joint actions during the campaign. The management of the Coordination headquarters was entrusted to the Committee of forestry and wildlife of the Ministry of ecology, Geology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the campaign, stationary and mobile posts and mobile RAID groups were organized in places where poaching was most likely to occur. The main forces are concentrated on the coast and water area of the Caspian sea and the pre-estuarine areas of the Zhaiyk and Kigash rivers, since poaching is most often registered in these places.
During the action, control over the export of fish and fish products outside the Republic at airports, train stations and major highways is being strengthened. In addition, the facts of illegal fish trafficking on the territory of the Republic are detected and suppressed. The results of the fish protection campaign of the past years show that during the spring Putina, the activity of poaching groups is activated.
